Sponsoring the Tigase project

As we are trying to boost XMPP components development for all servers, we felt that it was important to tighten the relationship between development teams.

We have recently launched an initiative to improve external component development and portability between XMPP servers, instead of focusing on internal modules only. We feel that being able to reuse components between servers is important to ensure convergence in the XMPP world. That’s the reason why we released Epeios, a module to run ejabberd module on any XMPP server.

The next step is logically to work with other servers developers to ensure that Epeios and ejabberd modules can actually work on third parties servers. That’s why we started working with Artur Hefczyc, lead developer of the Tigase project to ensure that this compliancy was real.

Our first target is to make sure that Tigase XMPP server can benefit directly from ejabberd publish and subscribe module. We will keep you informed of our result soon.

We will keep on the work and the discussion with the Tigase developers during the FOSDEM 2007 and the next XMPP Interop Event in Brussels.

We felt that it was important to have Artur with us, participating to this important event for the XMPP community, and we decided to sponsor his trip and stay in Brussels during the event.

Stay tuned for reports on our progress on modules and components interchange :)
