Mickaël Rémond - Founder & CEO

Mickaël Rémond is the founder of ProcessOne and has dedicated his career to building high-performance, scalable, and reliable messaging infrastructures. His passion for real-time communication started early, driven by a fascination with distributed systems and open-source software. Over the years, he has collaborated with some of the largest companies in the world, from Riot Games to the BBC, helping them design and deploy messaging solutions capable of handling massive scale while maintaining security and resilience.

The origins of ProcessOne date back to a time when real-time messaging at scale was a true challenge. Even handling 10k concurrent users required a great deal of innovation. To cay. Mickaël saw an opportunity to pioneer robust, scalable infrastructures that would power the next generation of digital communication. This vision led to the development of ejabberd, one of the most trusted XMPP servers, which continues to be a pillar of real-time messaging today. It was build with a focus on scalalability, robustness and security.

Mickaël’s interest in messaging platforms stems from a deep belief that communication tools should be federated and open to ensure their longevity, adaptability, and accessibility. Closed and proprietary systems limit innovation and create dependencies that weaken the ecosystem over time. To advocate for open and sustainable messaging solutions, he has been actively involved in the XMPP Standards Foundation, working to shape a messaging standard that benefits everyone. This dedication to openness and interoperability has been a guiding principle in his work, ensuring that ProcessOne builds solutions that are built to last and contribute to a sustainable tech ecosystem.

Beyond his work in technology, Mickaël is also a writer, sharing his vision through essays on the future of communication and technology. He is a frequent speaker at global tech conferences, discussing decentralized networks, messaging scalability, and open-source innovation. Additionally, he explores speculative futures as a science-fiction writer, crafting short stories and novels that merge deep technical knowledge with imaginative storytelling.

A Team of Instant Messaging Veterans

Behind ProcessOne stands a team of highly skilled engineers, each with years—sometimes decades—of experience in real-time communication and large-scale messaging. We are veterans of instant messaging, having built and maintained platforms that serve millions of users daily. Our team thrives on solving complex challenges, optimizing performance, and ensuring that our clients have the most reliable and secure messaging systems available.

We are passionate about technology that endures, designing solutions that scale, and empowering businesses with the best real-time infrastructure. Whether it’s XMPP, MQTT, or other messaging protocols, our expertise runs deep, and our commitment to engineering excellence never wavers.

Our Philosophy

At ProcessOne, we believe in building messaging solutions that stand the test of time. We do not chase the latest technology trends that lack real-world validation. From the very beginning, we chose the Erlang programming language because it was the best tool for building scalable, fault-tolerant real-time messaging systems. We have been proven right—more than 25 years later, our approach remains as relevant as ever. This long-term perspective ensures that investing in our technology and software stack is future-proof and built for the long run.

We are not just a company; we are a team of dedicated problem solvers who take pride in tackling some of the toughest challenges in real-time communication. If you are looking for a team that understands messaging at scale like no other, you’ve come to the right place.
